The Hunt

Pheasant hunting is a long-standing tradition in this part of South Dakota. We've hunted pheasants all of our lives,Pheasant Dog and we will do everything we can to make your pheasant hunt a successful and pleasant experience. “(Trust me you will be back for more)”
  • Family owned & operated lodge
  • Thousands of acres on which to hunt
  • Thousands of wild birds
  • Over 50 distinct hunting areas so you’ll never hunt the same field twice
  • Experienced hunting guides and enthusiastic dogs.

The diverse habitat is one of the most compelling reasons why hunters return to Pheasant Hills Lodge year after year to enjoy South Dakota pheasant hunting. The land consists of thousands of acres of prime C.R.P., with Milo, trees and corn stripped in food plots throughout. We also offer hunting in a variety of different covers, including corn strips, short and tall sorghum fields, thick tree belts, cattail sloughs, and native overgrown pastures. Low areas of overgrown switch grasses, and fox tail grasses make for wonderful roosting areas.

Our hunting program constantly rotates the use of these areas, NEVER OVERHUNTING or stressing the land. Your group will be the only group in the field at any time, and your group will never hunt the same are twice. We have enough land and birds to hunt & fill 17 guys for five days and never hunt the same place twice.

Hunting with larger parties is done by selecting blockers to post the opposite end of the field, while walkers and flankers push the pheasants towards them. Rotating walkers and blockers ensures everyone gets their barrels hot! Smaller groups will use different tactics, usually without blockers or having walking flankers become blockers at the end of the field. We also have many different size fields, which allows smaller client groups the ability to hunt land that is not overwhelming to their group size.
